Lego’s growing collection of Formula 1 helmets is set to receive arguably its most iconic addition yet. The new Editions Ayrton Senna Helmet recreates the unmistakable helmet worn by the three-time F1 World Champion. The 931-piece set costs $89.99, is available to preorder now, and officially releases on September 1. This gives fans plenty of time to build it before F1 heads to the Autódromo José Carlos Pace for the Brazilian GP later this season.

Editions Ayrton Senna Helmet

One of the smartest things Lego has done here is to maintain the vintage look while adapting to the shape of modern F1 helmets, to match others in the collection. Racing helmets looked noticeably different in Senna’s era, with a more compact, rounded profile than today’s designs, and Lego clearly had that in mind. The finished model captures those period-correct details along with Senna’s instantly recognizable Brazilian-inspired colors of yellow, green, and blue. For something destined to spend its life on a shelf, honoring that silhouette makes the model feel different than others in the lineup.

This is the first helmet in the Editions collection that feels immediately essential. Senna’s helmet transcends a particular car, team, or season — it’s one of those pieces of racing iconography you can recognize from across a room. Lego could eventually challenge that distinction if it decides to release Fernando Alonso’s Renault helmet, but for now, the Senna set stands as the most compelling entry in the lineup yet.
